Believe it or not bows and arrows were once at the very forefront of weapons
technology. The sight of English bowmen on the battlefield struck fear in the heart of the
enemy and were indeed a force to be reckoned with, however archery today is a great
recreational pastime enjoyed by many throughout the country.
From the simplicity of using a bare bow where instinct counts one hundred percent to
the refined intricacies of the target recurve bow and pure sophistication of the compound
bow.
Our aim is to provide you with the opportunity to try your hand at this exciting sport,
you will be surprised at what you will be able to achieve in a relatively short period of
time with the equipment and tuition we offer.
We use standard straw buffs showing the Portsmouth round target face along with a
number of reactive targets which inject a large part of the fun element into the activity.
The session begins with lightweight bare bows which are ideal for initial tuition. For
those who are more experienced or wish to progress further our target recurve bows offer
an interesting challenge.
The session ends with a friendly shoot out for those with an appetite for competition.
However, we do stress that the entire activity should be viewed as fun.
